Got Those Internet Streaming Blues

Our FM signals are going full blast these days, but our internet streaming servers crashed hard in a power outage last week. There is some disruption to the machine interconnection that will be a quick fix once we find the teeny little numerical values that were altered in the crash! The streaming buttons above may start working again at any time, but as an alternate we are testing a new streaming service from Canada. Click here to launch this experimental stream. As with any stream, some internet companies may not pass the signal and some vintages of some browsers won't work. These are circumstances out of our control, but we hope you'll give it a try!

We're not able to replicate our amazing HD channels at this time, but expect NewGrass Valley, The Breeze and Radio Kansas Jazz to return soon. If you're a particular fan of one of these channels, remember our Jazz on FM Saturday nights...our folk Sunday afternoons and Nightcrossings, Tranquility Bass and Hearts of Space each night at 9!

Programming for Our 50th Year

Our first station was licensed July 14, 1972. This means we're starting our 50th year of broadcasting! For most of that time we've been famous for bringing you the best radio shows from around the world.

You'll note we've restored programming we'd lost from the American Public Media network (APM) have some new favorites from the BBC. See our program grid for complete info!

Each program on our schedule has objective value and is beneficial for central Kansas. Some of the current options were prompted by changes at NPR as we explain here. We now present BBC World Service overnight until 6, and The World from Public Radio International both 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.! At 7 a.m. it's The Newsroom, then at 7:30, Business Daily and the Marketplace Morning Report. At 5 p.m. is Marketplace, right after Kansas News Service newscast material. This all makes more sense visually, so just check the grid online!

Protecting Your Privacy

You’ll notice that our website doesn’t have any pop-ups asking you to approve “cookies” or other tracking software. That’s not our style. We invite you to use all of our services – on air and online – for free and in private, and then trust on the honor system that you will take part as a contributor. This is one reason we don’t have an app that you have to install after accepting a bunch of terms and conditions. Our mobile "app" is simply the mobile-formatted web page at It can’t track you or save or steal your information in any way. Rather than having to download updates, you’ll just find that the page is more capable as time goes on. These updates are delivered each time you refresh the page.

To “install” the app as a button on your device: On Apple Devices, visit the page in the built-in Safari Browser. Click the “Share” button at the bottom of the browser, then choose “Add To Home Screen.” Our streams and other information are now no more than two clicks away! On Android devices, visit with Chrome, then click the three dots in the upper right and choose “Add To Home Screen.” If you’ll go to that bit of trouble, we can save the $6000 we’ve been quoted to have someone build software for the app store. We’ll keep those dollars invested in the radio you use each day.
