It's a Race to the Finish!

Our on air fundraising for each show ends the MOMENT that particular show's needs are met. A generous pledge for your favorite program will get us back to uninterrupted programming sooner. Classical fans can return us to wall-to-wall music even if News fans need more time, for instance.

Listeners control not only how many hours we need, but how many minutes each hour! We'll be clear about our need each hour, and as soon as our total is reached, we'll have nothing further to report, and so can safely return to uninterrupted programming for the remainder of that hour!

Pledge whatever feels right to support a year of news, fine arts and variety programming. We have faith that when you do your part, others will follow your lead and we'll get to keep doing the shows you expect!

New Programming for Our 50th Year

Our first station was licensed July 14, 1972. This means we've recently started our 50th year of broadcasting! For most of that time we've been famous for bringing you the best radio shows from around the world.

You'll note we've restored programming we'd lost from the American Public Media network (APM) have some new favorites from the BBC. See our program grid for complete info!

Each program on our schedule has objective value and is beneficial for central Kansas. Some of the current options were prompted by changes at NPR as we explain here. We now present BBC World Service overnight until 6, and The World from Public Radio International both 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.! At 7 a.m. it's The Newsroom, then at 7:30, Business Daily and the Marketplace Morning Report. At 5 p.m. is Marketplace, right after Kansas News Service newscast material. This all makes more sense visually, so just check the grid online!

Get the Radio Kansas App!

You’ll notice that our website doesn’t have any pop-ups asking you to approve “cookies” or other tracking software. That’s not our style. We invite you to use all of our services – on air and online – for free and in private, and then trust on the honor system that you will take part as a contributor. This is one reason we don’t have an app that you have to install after accepting a bunch of terms and conditions. Our mobile "app" is simply the mobile-formatted web page at www.radiokansas.com/app It can’t track you or save or steal your information in any way. Rather than having to download updates, you’ll just find that the page is more capable as time goes on. These updates are delivered each time you refresh the page.

To “install” the app as a button on your device: On Apple Devices, visit the page in the built-in Safari Browser. Click the “Share” button at the bottom of the browser, then choose “Add To Home Screen.” Our streams and other information are now no more than two clicks away! On Android devices, visit with Chrome, then click the three dots in the upper right and choose “Add To Home Screen.” If you’ll go to that bit of trouble, we can save the $6000 we’ve been quoted to have someone build software for the app store. We’ll keep those dollars invested in the radio you use each day.
